You clicked on the About Page for Copyright Lately, which means you’re someone who’s not going to just wander around aimlessly on some strange website before getting to know it. I can respect that.
Well, if you’re interested in news, insight and analysis on legal issues involving creative works and intellectual property rights, you should stick around. Whether you’re a full-fledged copyright nerd or just a fan of pop culture who wants to know more about the laws that drive the content industry, this site is for you.
But enough about you. What about me? I’ve been a practicing lawyer at Greenberg Glusker in Los Angeles for 25 years, and have been heading up our firm’s litigation department for over a decade. I specialize in copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property, media and entertainment litigation matters, and have handled a number of high-profile cases you may have read about. I’ve also served as president of the Los Angeles Copyright Society, and have been profiled in publications like the Los Angeles Times, the Hollywood Reporter, Variety and ABC News.
This is actually my second go-round launching a legal-oriented blog. Once upon a time, I co-founded Law Law Land, which earned a couple of “Blawg Awards” from the ABA Journal. I’ve posted some of my old LLL articles from a hermetically-sealed Time Capsule if you want to see what qualified as IP drama in the early 2010’s.
In my free time I enjoy photography, especially taking concert photos. Feel free to check out my photography website or follow my personal Instagram if you’re a music fan.
A couple of quick housekeeping matters: First, I’d really like this to be an interactive experience, so I’ve enabled post comments. I encourage you to join in the discussion so long as you don’t post “work from home stuffing envelopes” type spam. Second, nothing that I write here should be construed as legal advice. The opinions expressed on this site don’t necessarily reflect the views of my law firm or our clients. Even my own legal musings are fact-dependent and subject to change over time, lest any opposing counsel think they’ve stumbled upon some oppo-research goldmine here.
Finally, please subscribe to my newsletter for exclusive content. Let me know of any burning questions or topics you’d like me to tackle at email@example.com. And definitely check out the Copyright Lately social media links at the top of the site to follow and share content. Most of the major platforms are covered except for TikTok, because no.
I’m glad you’re here, and I hope you’ll stay for a bit.
